interior Design services

Shannon Tate Interiors provides custom full service design for all aspects of residential interiors.  We take on projects ranging anywhere from a single kitchen renovation, to whole home decor projects, new construction and large scale renovation.  We work closely with any outside contractors who will be needed to complete the project and will be responsible for overseeing the job from start to finish. Our firm in based in Massachusetts and we take projects on all over the US.

WHAT TO EXPECT WITH FULL SERVICE DESIGN

Initial Consultation:  We will either meet at your home or via Zoom for your consultation depending on your location.  During the consultation we will access your needs and desires for the space, develop a clear scope of work for your project and discuss budget.

Presentation of Proposal:  We will provide you with a detailed breakdown of the scope of work, estimate of the number of hours to complete and design fees for your project. Some projects are done on an hourly basis, and some are done by flat fee. Most flat fee projects are broken down into 3 payments, hourly jobs are billed at 50% of the estimated hours upfront and billed again once those hours have been completed.

Contract & Payment:  Once the proposal is approved, we will send you over a contract to sign for the project. Once the contract is signed, your first bill will be sent via email. You can pay online or with a check.   Once these two items have been received, we're all set to get started on your project!

Design Questionnaire:  We will send you a link to our design questionnaire, which you can fill out and submit online .  The purpose of this questionnaire is for us to get a clear picture of your likes and dislikes, and who you are, so when we get started, we're working from a place that's totally in line with your desires. 

Design Direction Meeting:   Once we have gone through your design questionnaire and looked at any inspiration imagery you’ve shared, we will get to work on a design direction presentation. This will show you two directions, through inspiration imagery, that we can go in for your project. Once you decide on a direction, we dive into full design and decor plans. In some cases, when clients are very clear, we only show 1 style, to confirm we’re clear on direction for the project.  

Design Presentation: We will meet to present the design plans for your home. This includes moodboards, all selected finishes, elevations, plans, renderings, detailed lists of items needed for the project, along with a tally sheet of purchases to be made. If this is a renovation, also included will be estimates from trades people. If this is a large scale renovation or new construction project that also has decor, we will often have a separate meeting to present decor. Once everything is approved by the client and any edits needed have been made, we will have one more meeting with all of the finish materials in hand for you to touch, feel, see and approve in person before purchases are made.

Permit Set for Renovations & New Construction: Once everything is finalized in the Design Presentation meeting and any edits needed have been made, we will work to create a full drawing set that can be used by the contractor to obtain work permits.

Purchasing Begins: Invoices will be sent for all of the items needed for your project and once payment is received, the orders will be placed. Some smaller items can occasionally go directly on clients credit cards, so if that option is available, you will be notified and given that option. The designer will keep you up to date on lead times, etc.

Project Management: Regular in person check ins are done throughout the construction process to assure things are moving along as planned. The design is in close contact with all trades throughout the process to answer any questions that may arise or problem solve any issues that present themselves once demo begins.

Final Installation:  We will come to your home for an installation day where we will place all of your furniture and do all of the final staging.  Depending on the size of the project, this is sometimes a multi-day process.

(All driving travel costs for clients outside of a 20 mile radius of Shelburne Falls, MA will be billed at the current years standard mileage rates for business)
